Sentinel® AOP UV Systems

The Sentinel Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) is a powerful treatment method that can be used to destroy harmful contaminants in drinking water, ground water and process wastewater. Calgon Carbon pioneered UV innovation 30+ years ago with the introduction of an advanced oxidation process to destroy toxic compounds in groundwater and expanded to the breakthrought discovery for low-dose inactivation of Cryptosporidium, which provided with potable water industry a cost-effective method to protect public health. When an oxidizing agent is added to the water, it absorbs the UV energy, producing highly reactive hydroxyl radicals that oxidize organic contaminants in the water. This reaction breaks down the contaminants into harmless by-products. Advanced oxidation technology is highly effective at treating a broad range of chemicals including BTEX, NDMA, MTBE, 1,4-Dioxane, TCE, Benzene, PCE, Vinyl Chloride in ground water remediation; the destruction of taste and odor causing compounds in drinking water caused by algae and bacteria (MIB & Geosmin) and treatment of endocrine disrupting compounds.
