Gritsep DS Grit Classifiers

GRITSEP DS Grit Classifier provides reliable grit and sand separation for wastewater treatment applications. The system uses an inclined screw conveyor with a large-volume decanting hopper. As a result, wastewater facilities can separate grit from water while conveying and discharging de-watered material.

This SAVECO grit classifier is designed for robust performance and low maintenance. Moreover, the system removes grit or sand from wastewater through decantation and removal by means of a conveyor screw.

How The System Works

Water flows through the inlet spout into the decanting hopper. Then, sedimentation of solid particles takes place inside the hopper. The low screw rotation speed improves sedimentation and helps move de-watered grit and sand toward the upper outlet.

Clean water exits through the side discharge spout of the hopper. Additionally, the shaftless screw design helps convey solids without bearings beneath the liquid level. This supports simpler operation and reduced maintenance concerns.

Technical Features

The unit includes a fully welded stainless steel hopper, available in 304 L or 316 L stainless steel. It also uses a heavy-duty shaftless screw made from wear-resistant carbon steel or stainless steel. Furthermore, the trough includes a low-friction anti-wear liner with stainless steel or metal/plastic bolted wear bars.

Available liquid throughput ranges from 18 to 130 m³/h. Solids throughput ranges from 0.22 to 1.3 m³/h. Additionally, SAVECO lists ATEX GAS II electric motors and an IE3 efficiency motor for the DS 4000 model.
