When sediments accumulate, they can contribute to hydrogen sulfide production, associated corrosion and odours. Solids deposits or sediments are discharged to the urban streams during storm events which can cause degradation of receiving-water quality. In dry-weather sewer sedimentation can creates hazardous conditions and sewer degradation and may increase pollutant loads to the urban receiving waters during wet-weather high-flow periods. Tipping flushers and flushing gates to remove solids and debris from CSO-storage tanks, SBR tanks etc. can improve quality and be safer for operators keeping out of confined spaces.
